Hi. We took a practice test in math yesterday and the results show that most kids do not like to take Ms. Erickson's advise. All year, I have been stressing in class and on computers for them to work out their problems on paper and NOT in their heads. So many missed the simple addition and subtraction problems because they did not take the time or make the effort to write it down. At this age, there are so few that can handle these types of problems with regrouping in their heads. I told them today, once again, that I am here to lead them to water, but I CAN'T make them drink! Please, please talk with your kiddos about this issue. Again, I stress that I am NOT a test driven teacher, but I do absolutely expect each and every child to push themselves to do their very best on each and every assignment every single time, no matter what that assignment is. We can do this Team Erickson!
Just a reminder that the SW states and capital's test is this coming Friday. There are only four states in this region, but they need to still study. It will use the same matching and map location format as the ones in the past. We will study in class tomorrow, but practice them at home as well. If you do that tonight, please write SW in the planner for $20 tomorrow.
That about sums it up for today. Have a wonderful night!
